A stunning 3000m panoramic peak above Valtournenche
Punta Tzan, nestled between the Valtournenche and the Saint-Barthélemy Valley, is a captivating and rarely visited summit, perfect for those seeking an alpine climb in a wild and unspoiled environment. With the Guides of the Cervino, we offer this as a full day experience, starting from Torgnon and approaching the upper alpine pastures by off road vehicle. This shortens the route, making the climb accessible to experienced hikers in good shape.
From the summit, the panorama is spectacular: the entire Valtournenche valley stretches out below, the majestic Matterhorn rises nearby and glimpses of Monte Rosa, Grand Combin, and the Mont Blanc range complete the view.
Meet early morning in Torgnon (Valtournenche). Transfer by 4x4 to the alpine pastures of Chavacour or Chantorné (2,000–2,300 m). Hike along the trail to the Rivolta bivouac. Ascend the ridge, enjoying climbing on excellent rock, up to the summit of Punta Tzan (3,320 m). Descend via the normal route and return to Torgnon in the afternoon.
