Rock climbing in the wild heart of Valtournenche.

Becca d'Aran (2,952 m) is an elegant and panoramic peak located in the upper part of Valtournenche, in a rare and still sparsely frequented environment. Here, you can find historical climbing routes, perfect for those seeking an authentic alpine ascent, amidst compact walls, clean dihedrals, and sharp edges. With the Cervino Guides, you can choose from several classic itineraries, all perfect for a day of high-altitude rock climbing, away from the crowds and immersed in nature:

Meet in Valtournenche, transfer to Cheneil, and hike (approx. 1h30–2h) to reach the base of the climb. Tackle one of the classic routes roped up with your mountain guide, and return the same day via trail or rappel.

Routes to Choose From

Via Carrel

A true classic of the Becca, following a logical line on solid rock. With sections of grade IV and breathtaking views, this is a rewarding alpine outing that takes you to the summit along the mountain’s most natural ridge.

Via Anita

A modern, varied route that alternates between technical cracks and gentle slabs. Perfect for climbers who enjoy sustained and diverse climbing (IV+). The setting is magnificent, with spectacular views of the Matterhorn.

Golden Wall (Parete Dorata)

A hidden gem: a series of shorter, less-traveled routes on a striking buttress about an hour from Cheneil. The rock resembles Dolomite limestone, offering climbs up to 4 pitches, with rappels for the descent. Expect elegant lines on slabs and arêtes, with difficulties ranging from IV to VI. Ideal for those in search of a refined alpine adventure off the beaten track.
