A high-altitude adventure of ridges, via ferrata, and a spectacular descent

An alpine and panoramic itinerary in the heart of the Matterhorn massif, guided by the Cervino Guides.

The Furggen Traverse is one of the most exciting and complete experiences for ski mountaineering enthusiasts. Starting from Plateau Rosa (3,500 m), you follow the striking Furggen ridge, equipped with via ferrata sections, and finish with a wild, spectacular descent on fresh snow all the way down to Cervinia.

It’s the perfect mix of mountaineering, skiing, and adrenaline, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the mighty south face of the Matterhorn.

Program

Meeting in Cervinia and ascent by lifts to Plateau Rosa. A short descent and approach on skins lead to the Furggen ridge. You’ll follow the via ferrata route, partly on rock and mixed terrain, in an exposed but well-equipped setting. A pause on the summit allows you to take in the views before preparing for the descent: a freeride adventure through a glacial, isolated environment of cliffs and couloirs, finishing in Cervinia in the afternoon.
