The Highest Peak in Switzerland
The Punta Dufour is the highest peak in Switzerland and the second highest in the Alps. with the Cervino Guides. An intense and rewarding high-altitude climb requiring good fitness, technique, and motivation.
We offer two different routes to reach this prestigious summit. One from the Italian side via the Gressoney valley, and one from the Swiss side, with departure and return in Cervinia.
Two Ascent Options
From Gressoney – Normal Route or Rey Ridge
Day 1: Ascent from Gressoney using the lifts, then approach to Rifugio Mantova or Capanna Gnifetti.
Day 2: Ascent of Punta Dufour via the Italian Normal Route, passing over the Zumsteinspitze.
Alternatively, ascent via the spectacular and airy Rey Ridge - solid rock and breathtaking views.
Descent via the normal route and return to Gressoney.
From Cervinia – Swiss Normal Route (3 days)
Day 1: Departure from Cervinia by lift, descent to Zermatt, and train up to Rotenboden. Hike to the modern and welcoming Monte Rosa Hütte (2,883 m).
Day 2: Ascent of Punta Dufour via the Swiss Normal Route: a long, grand traverse across glacier and mixed snow and rock ridge. Descent and overnight at the Monte Rosa Hütte.
Day 3: Return to Zermatt and back to Cervinia with the lifts.
