The ideal 4000m peak for beginners, with the Guides of Cervino

The Western Breithorn (4,165 m) is one of the most accessible 4000m peaks in the Alps, making it the perfect objective for anyone seeking their first true high-altitude ski mountaineering experience.

Thanks to the lifts, you start already at high altitude, with breathtaking views of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. The ascent takes place in a glacial environment, over gentle and consistent slopes — ideal for gaining confidence with skinning uphill and managing altitude.

With skis on your feet, the summit is reached in approximately 2 hours, accompanied safely by the Guides of Cervino. From the top, the descent across wide snow-covered slopes offers an exhilarating, panoramic experience, returning to Cervinia or Zermatt depending on conditions.

Meeting in Cervinia in the morning, ascent by lifts to Klein Matterhorn, technical briefing, then departure with skins towards the Western Breithorn. Arrival at the summit (around 2 hours), pause for photos and panoramic views of Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. Ski descent across the glacier and return to Cervinia.
